Tasty Tuesday!

Today's Tasty Tuesday is going to be a little different as todays is a quick and easy way to get some fresh food into your meals.  Guess What!  You do not even have any prep work with it!

I recently bought the President's Choice Broccoli slaw and loved it.   As Presidents choice says directly on their website:
"We’ve done all the prep work for you so you can enjoy fresh, nutritious vegetables in a matter of minutes. Our PC® Broccoli Slaw is a ready-to-serve blend of crisp shredded broccoli, carrots and red cabbage."
It is fabulous and a quick and easy salad to make all you need is your coleslaw dressing and if you are like me and would like to mix it up sometimes feel free to add some dried berries or seeds.  Normally the most common ingredients I have added are raisins and/or sunflower seeds, but have added almonds and cranberries as well.

You definitely do have time to add this into your weekly meal planning and its a nice way to mix up your meals this summer!

Definitely must be the last week of school...

I hope you are all having a fabulous Tuesday!  Mine definitely could have been better.  We had a slow start to the morning which meant Miss J was 15 min late for school.  Then to top it off I received a phone call at 1130 from her teacher as Tuesdays for a treat we had normally gotten her Pizza at school as it was a treat for her.  We had it on our calendar that today was the last day.  Guess what we were wrong.  So I had to quickly get a lunch put together to run over to her school for her to eat.  This did not go over well with Miss K my two year old.  She was eating her lunch and did not want to be interrupted!

So as you can see as the day progresses I hope it will only go up from here!  So Thankful there are only 2 more days after today.  Clearly I need the break lol

Own a vehicle or looking at purchasing? A definate must read!

We recently were in the market for a new vehicle.  I had owned a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 and for those that are not familiar with vehicles it is a 2 door sports car and having two children and two dogs it clearly lacked in the space compartment.  I loved my vehicle and everything about it so trust me when I say I was not the happiest when I got my new vehicle.  The most common comment I heard from others was how quick I could get the girls into the vehicle with just the two doors.  The funny thing is when its all you know you do not think anything different of it.

We ended up taking my blue sports car and trading it in for a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan.  I joke with people that I am now driving a bus so I have space to bring a whole team around with me Ha-Ha.  A few weeks after buying the vehicle we had to take it in on a  recall.  This was completely to my surprise.  I was thinking I just bought this vehicle and already a problem!?!?  I do not remember ever having to take my other vehicle in and if I did it definitely was not just after purchasing it.  Though I guess in all fairness it was the previous years model and I would rather be safe then sorry.  I just wish I would have known about this great site called repairpal.com before be bought.

With checking out my vehicle 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan I was able to see reviews on the product, recalls, problems and questions and answers.  This is a great resource for anyone who is looking at buying a vehicle and who needs to get their vehicle repaired.  You can check out what other consumers have had issues with or thought about the vehicle and post your own thoughts and experiences.  The details posted about my recall and had I know about this site and had I known about this site I would have known about the recall before buying.  The funny thing is that I had bought it after the date that it was posted on the website.  Although, we would have not changed our minds I would have felt like a more informed shopper knowing this piece of information.  I guarantee the next time I buy a car I will be using repairpal.com to check out the vehicle lines history!  If you are in the market for a new vehicle or known someone that is this website is definitely not something to keep to yourself!

Save time with Comparison Shopping!

If you have been following my blog for sometime you know that I love saving money and I love saving time.  Recently we were in the market for a new laptop in our house and a friend suggested that we tried to compared online before purchasing.  Normally I just follow the flyers and try to see what is on sale in the stores when I am shopping for electronics.  Though I thought if I do the online comparison shopping for clothes and other items why not for electronics as well!

I have been told by many to check out the Canada Post online comparison shopping as they found that was the best comparison website when they were shopping for their laptop.  When I was looking for asus laptop I was very surprised at how many pages of options and how many stores came back in my search.  I was able to select what price range I was looking at and it would narrow down my search in my budget and also shows all of the options that were currently discounted.  So I knew if the store was having a sale or if it was regular price I was looking at!  Plus, if your a sale searcher like I am you can also select the discount range so if you only want the 20% off items or more it narrows that down for you!

I thought this was great and recommend if you have not checked it out yet to give it a try!  You'll love it as well!!!

Free E Books!

I love reading and I love it even more when I am able to save some money and try out and read some books for no cost at all.  Right now Harlequin is allowing 16 of their e books for free.  Its a 60 USD value!!

Be sure to check them out and stock up on some summer reading!  You know I have them already and will definitely check them out once I finish my current reads :-)

Save your money and enter for a chance to win with Walgreens

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have not always had seasonal allergies.  This has been something that I have developed when I was older and more specifically after I had children.  So you can imagine I am not always prepared when my allergies are about to act up.  The worst is when this happens when you are away on holidays!  As you may have noticed through my posts I am always about getting the best deal when I make a purchase.  Even when I am away on holidays!   120x30_WalgrensTransparentLogo

No matter where I am I always compare the prices of brand name products to  store brands and factor in if I have a coupon to use.  Whichever product comes out to cost less is the one I purchase.  Although we do not have a Walgreens in Canada when I was in the US last I of course did not have a coupon, but I did find  I saved  money purchasing Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products

I have read  positive reviews from others about Walgreens Brand Health and wellness products so I was confident that I would not be disappointed.  After using Walgreens Brand allergy medicine and found no difference in the quality.  The only major difference was the savings!  If that was not more then enough with every purchase of  Walgreens Bran Health & Wellness Products supports brining preventative wellness service to ones local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.

The Walgreens Way to Well Fund™ provides preventative health tests as well as other educational and health and wellness services in ones community.  Just a few of these services will include preventive health tests through the National Urban League Health & Wellness Tour and vouchers redeemable in select stores. Plus Walgreens is set to contribute up to $3 million annually to this fund!! Is that not awesome!!!!  For additional details on this visit walgreens.com/waytowell.

As always I love sharing giveaway with my readers even if I am not personally offering them I love it if it is because of myself or my blog that one of my readers gets a little richer. :-)  Be sure to check out the giveaways  and let me know if you are a lucky winner :-)!

Definitely the next time you are shopping and you head into Walgreens check out Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products you will not be disappointed!

Fabulous Friday!!

Welcome to another week of Fabulous Friday!  This song is another one of my favorites right now.  A coworker was talking about this song and how it speaks for the times right now and truly for any time when it gets hard in your relationship.  I could not agree anymore I seem to know so many people who are facing situations where their love and faith is being tested.  This song is just a reminder of how important it is to turn to the ones you love through the hard times as they are truly the ones that will help you through!

Making Media Accessible For All!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Accessible Media Inc.. All opinions are 100% mine.

There are many things that I take for granted in my life and I know I am not alone in this.  The thing is you do not realize this always until it is taken away from you. Your eyesight is one of those things.  If you have it you do not think anything more about it, though imagine having it for 13 years of your life and then no longer.  Reality is not everyone is going to have their eyesight and and other faculties throughout their life and the earlier we educate ourselves and improve the services for all with impairments the better for us all.

Accessible Media has a great video out right now on YouTube video about Jeff Berwick. He was blind since age 13, and this video allows you to share his day with him. It's an a great perspective and allows you into the world of someone that is visually impaired.

You may be asking who Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) is.  They are a not-for-profit multimedia organization operating two broadcast services, VoicePrint and The Accessible Channel -- TACtv, and a companion website (http://www.ami.ca). AMI serves more than five million Canadians who are blind, with low vision, print-restricted, deaf or hearing-impaired, learning disabled, mobility impaired, in need of literacy skills or learning English as a second language, by making print, broadcast and online media accessible.  Talk about a great company and a rewarding job!

Just watching the video makes me appreciate the services that Accessible Media does for Canadians and I definitely recommend checking out this video and educating yourself.

Did You know????

Did you know that my daughter only has two weeks left until school is done??!  Wow, someone please tell me where the time has gone?  I honestly can not believe how fast the time goes once you have children.  This is the period of my life when I would not mind it dragging on, but it seems to zoom on by!

Tuesday she came home from school and as we were in he car driving home she says to me "Mommy, Jordan is 5, Cassia is 5 and Julia is 5.  I want to be 5 too." The children that are in JK and SK at my daughters school have a separate school yard that they play in at recess.  As the SK students will be in Grade one next year they have started letting them do recess in the other school yard and that means some of her friends are not going to be around for recess for the remainder of the year.  Of course all of the girls she mentioned will be, but clearly she is worried that they are all going to leave her behind :-( Plus she mentioned that the teachers have been talking about classes switching.  This has to do with them getting ready in advance for next year.  I know it is a part of growing up, but it just breaks my heart that shes sad about her friends going.

My eldest will be starting SK in the fall and no longer be the youngest in the school and on the opposite side my 2 year old will be old enough to start preschool.  So really what I am going to do with myself.  HaHa!

Tomorrow she has her graduation at school and it is my husbands birthday so we are all heading over to her school tomorrow for the certificate ceremony!  Busy and exciting day for us tomorrow

Now I have summer holidays to figure out what we are going to do!

Enjoy Lighting Flamesless Candles: Review and Giveaway

I love candles, I always have from the time I was younger and my mother allowed me to have some in my room up until now.  I love everything about them their look, smell and the ambiance they create once they are lit.  For myself there is nothing more relaxing then my feet up reading a book or listening to music and having a candle on.  I absolutely love how relaxed I feel during those "me time" moments.  However, now that I have children this is just memories from the past and until recently I honestly do not remember the last time I had lit a candle, that is until Enjoy Lighting Flameless Candles.

I had stopped buying and lighting candles because I was worried about the safety issues with having small children.  Sure I teach and tell my children not to play with certain things and about how dangerous other things are.  Though reality is they are 4 and 2 and I would be surprised more if they listened to me when I asked them to do something then the opposite. I am not a careless parent just realistic.  It is in their nature to test and experiment and even though they may come to me after with the same result I told them would happen, they still have to go out and experiment on their own.

However, when it comes to ways that I can keep them and my house safe then I will do that as I have control over that.  So I had made a conscious effort to stop lighting candles and buying them.  I knew as soon as the candle was lit or they could smell the candle they would be like bees to a flower, drawn to it.  Even perfect parents, if they even exist, can not have their eyes constantly on their children.  So as I have enough things on my plate daily I figured this would be a simple sacrifice I could make in order to keep us safe.

I do not have to tell you how excited I was when I was on the internet one day and came across a friends blog and saw that she was reviewing this fabulous product that allowed you to have the smell and the ambiance of fire lit candles with the ease and safety as and battery operated item.  I though this has to be too good to be true can this really be the best of both worlds???

The answer is simple,  YES!!  I was lucky enough to receive two candles to try out for review purposes and I have to say when I opened the package they smelt FAB-U-LOUS!  I was excited as a tween girl getting to meet Justin Bieber.  Okay, maybe not as excited as I was not crying, but you get the point!!

Turning on the candles they did not disappoint either.  They honestly look as authentic as a fire lit candle that if you did not know better you would think they were! Plus here are some additional benefits right from Enjoy Lighting!

• Wax candles have a classic fragrance to provide freshness and ambiance.

• 75% annual cost savings when compared to traditional wicked candles.

• Colors and textures to match any décor.

• Safe to use all around the home. No exposed flame or fire risks. No melted wax on carpet or furniture. No soot build up on walls or ceilings.

• LED bulbs will last over 100,000 hours!

• 3 LED's and a computer chip built into the candle produce multiple points of randomly shifting light, creating a glow that flickers, rolls, and casts dancing shadows, just like a real candle flame!

BUY IT:  Check out Enjoy Lighting and all their candles and to find out where to buy and be the talk of the town!!

WIN IT: Enjoy Lighting has been very generous and are giving one of my readers two candles to start off their own flameless candle collection. However, Enjoy Lighting will not give or send candles to winners of past Enjoy Lighting blog reviews and giveaways.

GRIPSTIC Review

Having children I think it is quite obvious that in my pantry I have a lot of snack packages.  I also love to make smoothies, so my freezer I have packages taking up space that are not resealable.

Most of the time I end up using rubber bands to keep these packages closed, but half the time I can not find an elastic so they end up being put away not sealed which I hate.  This mean that not only are they not going to be fresh, but majority of the time I'll find food laying all through my pantry due to the way someone picked it up.  Reality is even though they spill it, it is going to be me that has to clean it up.

I was so pleased when I was given the chance to try the GRIPSTIC.  I can definitely say I have one less worry and I can close my packages with ease and not worry if the food will be fresh the next time I have it.  If it has been put away with a GRIPSTIC on it then I definitely know it is going to be!

The GRIPSTIC was so easy to use and I have to say I LOVE the colours that it comes in.  They are different and bright so they'll stick out from all the other utensils you have in your drawer guaranteed.  So there is one less thing you need to search for.

In 3 simple steps you can seal pretty much any bag that you have and even use them outside to seal any outdoor bags.  They will last through the variations of temperatures so if you have freezing cold winters you do not need to worry about them breaking while sitting outside!

If you are like me and try to do everything without reading the directions, this is one product you'll want to make sure you follow.  It is easy to do when you know what you are doing.  If you do not it may take you a bit.  ha-ha!!  Which is great as I know my children are not going to be able to break it and so far they have not figured out how to get into a package that has the stick on it! Which I see as a win win!

The GRIPSTIC is available starting $3.99 at major chain retailers including Albertson’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Giant stores, Stop & Shop, Kroger, Safeway, Publix, and Winn Dixie.  They have variations in options for sizes and quantities and of course the more you get the more the price and deal will be

Definitely this is one way this mom is going to have one less Migraine!

Disclosure: I received no monetary compensation for this post. I did receive a package of GRIPSTICS for review purposes.  All thoughts and opinions are 100% mine.

Tasty Tuesday!

I do not know what it is about warm weather, but I always find I crave fruit more and love having a great variety!  I do not know if its the taste, the colours or that thanks to The Wiggles my girls love singing while we are making it! :-)

This is one of my favorite fruit Salad recipes and its super easy!!!

                            Fruit Salad
  • 1 small watermelon (or half a large)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can canned diced pineapple in juice, drain juice and reserve
  • 1 pound seedless grapes
  • 2 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 bananas, cut into bite-size pieces (you may want to do 3 as my kids seem to eat up one banana before we even finish making the dish :-) )
Cut everything into bite size pieces and add into the same bowl one at a time.  I like to put the pineapple juice over the salad when I am complete in cutting, but you can discard.  Mix up all the fruit and  serve or put in the fridge to chill if you prefer your cold.

Enjoy!!

Dr Oetker Panebello Pizza Review

Recently I was given the chance to try out Dr Oetkers Panebello Pizza's  You can find them at your local grocery store and there is a very diverse variety of pizzas that you can choose from.  In their Panebello Pizza line they have Vegetables and Goats Cheese, Country Pepperoni, Classic Canadian and Bruschetta.  All of the pizzas looked yummy, but as my girls love pepperoni I decided to get the Country Pepperoni.

The crust was great it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside so there was no worries of having a soggy crust.  I personally can not find anything worse then trying to pick up a piece of pizza and all the toppings slide off as the crust can not handle the toppings.  If you do prefer the thin crust pizzas, like my husband then you may want to stay away as the crust is more of a thick crust.  However, it is more of a fresh bread crust so you may find you love it like I did!

I definitely recommend on checking out their new line of pizzas the next time you are at the store and I know I am looking forward to trying the Vegetables and Goats Cheese just for myself :-)

Suggested retail price is $5.99 to $6.49, but I was able to find one on the lower end of $5.00 so be sure to check it out and why not try it for your next take out day!

Disclosure: Received a coupon to enable me to get a pizza for review purposes.  Thoughts are based on my family and I trying the product. No monetary compensation was received for this post.

Spring into SHAPE!!

As a part of spring into shape I have been trying some new recipes.  A friend had mentioned a few weeks back she had made a watermelon cucumber salad.  I personally have never made it before so decided I would give it a try, especially since it sounded so yummy!!!  Its a quick and simple dish to make and good for you :-)

Cucumber Watermelon Salad

  • 6 cups cubed seeded watermelon
  • 4 cups cubed English cucumber
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
Place the watermelon and cucumber cubes in a large bowl, and gently toss with the salt and sugar. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and toss to coat. Refrigerate for 15 minutes, then gently toss one last time before serving.

1/2 cup I found to be a lot for the recipe, so I would say add it slowly and use only what you feels tastes right.  You can always add more, but if your pour the whole thing over and you find it too strong you could ruin a perfectly good meal!

Enjoy!

I missed yesterdays post as I was busy with family as I mentioned my sister is in town visiting and we ended up going to my in laws for supper!  I did get my work out though it was again another day of full body workout on the Wii!  Gosh I thought I hated lunges, but I seem to hate pushups and planks just as much.  Oh and jumping jacks is there not an age limit on those??? ;-)  I don't know why I liked doing them as a kid, clearly I was misinformed back then thinking they were fun :-)

I am wondering if it is always going to hurt or if one day I might actually like doing them ;-).

Today is another Wii workout day and again I am hating the Wii Biggest Loser, but as they say good things will come to those who wait!

Spring into SHAPE!!

So I managed to work out again on the Wii.  So it has not been working exactly how I planned, but I am happy that I am still doing some sort of a workout.  Originally I had said that I was going to do the Wii daily then other exercise on top.  Clearly I was a little too eager ;-)

The funny thing is my sister arrived today and I made her do the Wii workout too.  She commented had she known she was going to be working out on her vacation she would have brought workout clothes lol...

My exercise today on the Wii was a half hr of full body training.  What I love the most about the Biggest Loser Wii game you really do get a great work out just using your own muscle and doing repetitive motions.  I would have thought you always need some sort of weights, but the repetitive motions get you toning as you work out.

BTW did I mention I hate lunges...will it ever not hurt to do them??

Spring into SHAPE!!

Today I had a weekly challenge with my Biggest Loser Wii game.  It was pretty neat though for a change in my workouts.  I do have to admit I was a bit confused when it was telling me I was going to have to crawl across the wire in a pool and release some balloons.  I seriously was looking at choosing another workout as I don't own a pool.  Haha  Then I realized it was going to be just in the game.lol

The good news is I did not get disqualified and I came in first (shhh don't tell anyone else that it is just me doing the Wii game lol)

I have to say I have never done the mountain climber and that was an awesome workout, but definitely gets you sweating.  I was trying to find a video to show but all I could see were ones on the ground whereas they had me doing it standing up.

Looking forward to what I will have to do tomorrow :-) No Seriously I am!! ;-)
