Tasty Tuesday: Banana French Toast

Recently my family had the opportunity to try Sunmaid's Raisin Bread.  I have had it before, but it was the first time that my children and husband had it.  The bread has been a hit with my family and I happened to check out their website site and found the below recipe that you can create with this awesome bread.  I will definitely be writing a grocery list with all of the below ingredients so I can create this for our next family weekend brunch!

Banana French Toast

8 slices Sun-Maid Raisin Bread
2 medium bananas cut in 1/4-inch (1 cm) slices
1 cup (250 mL) milk
4 ounces (120 mL) softened cream cheese
3 eggs
1/3 cup (75 mL) sugar
3 tablespoons (45 mL) all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons (10 mL) vanilla extract
Powdered sugar (optional)
    Directions:
    HEAT oven to 350 F (180 C).
PLACE four slices of raisin bread in a single layer in a buttered 9-inch (23cm) square baking dish. TOP with bananas and four slices of raisin bread.
BLEND milk, cream cheese, eggs, sugar, flour and vanilla in a blender or food processor until smooth.
POUR over raisin bread. Let stand 5 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
BAKE 40 to 45 minutes (50 to 55 minutes if refrigerated) until set and top is toasted. Let stand 10 minutes.
CUT French toast into diagonal halves and remove with spatula. Dust servings with powdered sugar if desired.

    Makes 8 servings.

I received coupons to try the Raisin Bread for free, but views are 100% my own.  They are no way influenced by the coupons I received.
