I would like say as an adult I am better when reality is....nope! I just make sure I try not to bake to often so that we do not have the sweets in the house as home made baking is a weakness for me.
With that being said over the holidays baking is something that I love to do with my girls. My grandma made me a cook book and there are recipes in it that I made with her when I was small. I love being able to pass on the things I loved to do with her with my own girls. The following recipe is so easy to make with your children and easy for them to do it all up to putting it into the oven. Plus it does not take long to make so it works with their shortened attention span. This is also a huge hit at any get together I attend or cookie exchange. As with everything I make there is always options to make it a bit healthier though most importantly have fun!
Magic Cookie Bar

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut (unsweetened)
1 cup chopped nuts
-Heat oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees for glass dish). Coat 13x9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.
-Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Press down firmly with a fork.
-Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars or diamonds. Store covered at room temperature.

Sounds very rich and yummi!! and magical :) Think this will be a hit with my son as well. He loves to bake (and of course the best part: eat the goodies)
I'm right there with ya - HUGE sweet tooth here too! The icing and cookies thing in the freezer - same here ;) Being in a freezer doesn't stop me (well now it does, but it didn't up until oh----3 weeks ago!)
Those bars sound yummy!

Hi visiting from SASS. My husband and kids also like to bake and this sounds like a great recipe to try. Yes the darn sweet tooth eh?
I love anything simple to make and sweet! I haven't had these in years... I need to add them back into my baking list! Thanks for posting! SASS

Great recipe! I have a sweet tooth, but nothing like my 8 year old's. Maybe it's an age thing, but a little sweet goes a long way now.

I make something with similar ingredients for Santa :) But I skip the chopped nuts and butter - it's also no bake. I mix everything together, roll it into balls and freeze it. My daughter has dubbed them "Reindeer Turds" :$
I like yours better :)

This is a recipe I've been meaning to get around to making. It always slips my mind. Must. Try.

Too sweet for my tastes, BUT I do love that it's a super kid friendly recipe. Might try these next time I need a "for company" treat. Thanks! -SASS
