Tasty Tuesday: Banana French Toast
Recently my family had the opportunity to try Sunmaid's Raisin Bread. I have had it before, but it was the first time that my children and husband had it. The bread has been a hit with my family and I happened to check out their website site and found the below recipe that you can create with this awesome bread. I will definitely be writing a grocery list with all of the below ingredients so I can create this for our next family weekend brunch!
8 slices Sun-Maid Raisin Bread
2 medium bananas cut in 1/4-inch (1 cm) slices
1 cup (250 mL) milk
4 ounces (120 mL) softened cream cheese
3 eggs
1/3 cup (75 mL) sugar
3 tablespoons (45 mL) all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons (10 mL) vanilla extract
Powdered sugar (optional)

Hate Replacing Drawstrings? Let EZstringer make you love it!
When it comes to sewing I really do lack at skill. I did take a class when in high-school and I am thankful for the basic information I know. However, with the skills I learned I never could figure out how to get the drawstrings back into clothes easily. I know I am not alone here and that is why I jumped at the chance to review this great product called the EZstringer.
I honestly have a stack of clothing that is perfect to wear, but the drawstrings have came out so I had them there "just in case" I found a way to do it easier then what I have in the past. In the past I would add a pin to the end and slowly try to push the string around. Sometimes it worked and all of the time I would end up stressed by the process. The EZstringer was easy to use and I am happy to say even those with little or no sewing skill can feel like a pro!
With the EZstringer you receive:
- Large Yellow EZstringer: Great for most applications and bulky clothes
- Medium Orange EZstringer: great for applications with grommets
- Small Pink EZstringer: great for delicate applications
Be sure to come back on Winning Wednesday as one of my lucky Canadian readers will win one!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Tasty Tuesday: Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries
If you are looking for a quick and easy way to make yourself some sweet potato fries then I do have a recipe for you! I had always been intimidated by making home fries, but this recipe was so easy to follow and healthy alternative to frying!
You bake them and voila 30 minutes later you have a great snack or a new dish to add to your list of favourite dishes to make!
1 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. dried Italian herb seasoning (or whatever is similar that you have in your cupboard!)

1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. dried Italian herb seasoning (or whatever is similar that you have in your cupboard!)
All you need to do is to preheat oven to 425°. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat it with cooking spray.
Then spread the sweet potato strips out onto the baking sheet in a single layer, coat with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and spices, turning them over to evenly coat on all sides with oil and spices. Or you can put them all in a bowl and coat them that way to to ensure it is evenly coated.
Bake for 30 minutes, turning every 10 minutes with spatula. Serve warm.

Viral Video: Why vacuum the house when you can vacuum your cat?!?
Being a dog owner I will never be able to do this, my dogs would rather attack the vacuum then have it on them. I am wondering though how this pet owner came to the point of deciding to vacuum their cat to see if they like it...

The Magic of Mothers & Daughters Book Review
I recently had the pleasure to read and review Chicken Soup for the Soul The Magic of Mothers & Daughters.
101 Inspirational and Entertaining Stories about That Special Bond
Like many of the other Chicken Soup books that I have read I really did enjoy reading this story. I found this story to be different in many ways for me, from some of the other books that I have read. We all have our own unique relationships with our mothers and no two relationships are a like. Being a mother now I can see this so clearly with my own children. No matter how I try my relationship with both girls will never be the same as they are both separate individuals and through life will have different wants and needs from me.
This can be shown as true through this book as well. It allows us a peak into the lives of other mothers and daughters. I have to say some of the stories are not something that I would consider memorable if it happened in my own relationships, but the thing is it did not happen in my relationship. Just as each of my girls will have a unique relationship with me, these stories show how truly different we all are in what we need from our mothers/children and this is constantly changing through our life phases.
If your shopping for a gift for your daughter or mother be sure to check out this book. Now that spring is upon us it is the perfect gift to sit back on a warm day and read this book. It will truly show you that special Magic between Mothers and Daughters. You will be able to find this book and many more on http://www.chickensoup.com/
Happy Reading
Disclosure: I was provided a book for review purposes. I was in no way compensated for my review, all views are 100% mine.
Tasty Tuesday: Mandarin Almond Salad
I love salads and this was an awesome salad I made a few weeks back. As always you can tweak the recipe as you like. The last time I made this we actually did not add any dressing or sugar the almonds and the recipe was just as awesome. Plus it was a whole lot healthier!! The picture above is my own version without any dressing or sugared Almonds. We are big fans of cheese though so I did add a bit over the entire bowl of salad. We found that the juice from the oranges gave the salad enough moistness. This is the original recipe have shared that I found on All Recipes, but have fun with it and make it your own!
In a large bowl, combine the romaine lettuce, oranges and green onions.
Heat 2 tablespoons sugar with the almonds in saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir while sugar starts to melt and coat almonds. Stir constantly until almonds are light brown. Turn onto a plate, and cool for 10 minutes.
Combine red wine vinegar, olive oil, one tablespoon sugar, red pepper flakes and black pepper in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Shake vigorously until sugar is dissolved.
Before serving, toss lettuce with salad dressing until coated. Transfer to a decorative serving bowl, and sprinkle with sugared almonds.
Enjoy!
