I love animals and I think that they can have such a powerful and positive effect on children and adults alike. These creatures teach us so much about themselves and the world around us, but at the same time we learn about ourselves. Sure my kids love fairies and princesses, but when my children have an option to pick out books at the library, every time they choose books about reptiles or animals. The reason they give for their selection is that they want to learn. Clearly to them animals make learning fun and what parent would knock their children for wanting to learn! :-) This is why I think this February is going to be an awesome month for families with the great new initiative that Family Channel is rolling out.
"This February, Family Channel and Temple Street Productions are teaming up for a paws-itively un-furr-gettable programming event dedicated to kids, their furry best friends, and their scaly sidekicks. Kicking off Saturday, February 1, the month-long initiative, Project Pet, features brand new dynamic, original content every day, special pet-themed episodes and movies throughout the month, and exclusive online content at Family.ca.
From lizards riding skateboards to dogs blowing bubbles, Project Pet showcases some of the most amazing and adorable animal antics. Each day during the month of February, Family will premiere a variety of pet-themed interstitials including Pet Peeves, taking viewers on a journey inside the minds of pets, and Pets With Personality a short series depicting animals who exhibit hilarious humanlike behaviours. Every Friday at 8 p.m. ET/PT, kids can go on an exciting adventure with the courageous canine, Super Pup, as he discovers there is no treat too chewy or toy too squeaky, in the weekly short segment Super Pup Saves The World.
On Friday, February 7 and Friday, February 21, Fido fans will be treated to an evening of back-to-back episodes of Dog With A Blog, the live-action Family comedy series told from a canine perspective. The marathons, hosted by series’ stars G Hannelius(Avery), Blake Michael (Tyler) and Francesca Capaldi (Chloe), will begin at 6 p.m. ET/PT. The furr-ific month also includes the network premiere of Beverly Hills Chihuahua on Friday, February 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, starring the voice of Drew Barrymore (Curious George) as Chloe, a ritzy Beverly Hills chihuahua who finds herself lost while on vacation in Mexico. Other family flicks that will air as part of the Project Pet lineup include Garfield: a Tail of Two Kitties; Finn on the Fly; Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2; andBeverly Hills Chihuahua 3.
The animal adventures continue at Family.ca/projectpet where pet lovers can play a variety of pet-themed games and watch all ofProject Pet’s videos. While there, visitors can meet Family’s brand new pet goldfish, Hank, and play his all-new game; plus, see what he’s been up to every day in the web exclusive series Hank’s Tank. Beginning February 14, kids can submit videos of the pets doing cool tricks for a chance to be featured on the website with their pet! The dedicated supersite launches February 1."
