I love music although I have never been that talented when its comes to playing it, I totally appreciate every single artist out there that can. Let me say that again it is just those that CAN, that I appreciate. Unfortunately, through the years there will always be those who have no true skills and make a quick dollar from it. Though I think true artists will have staying power through the years.
That is my opinion although the true experts in my household are my 3.5 and 1.5 year old children. For the longest time I was only "permitted" by them to listen to nursery rhymes. Honestly, we were not allowed to listen to anything else, if we put anything on but their music my eldest would have a fit. I never let them have their way like this anywhere else it seemed as an easy compromise as driving with crying and screaming children, no matter how far you are going, is not much fun.
I try to influence their taste as much as possible my music in my car right now goes from Rap to Debussy and thankfully they like it all. It throws me off though when they start singing a song that I do not have and then I realize how powerful other influences are over them and I just hope my husband and I will have more. My youngest is at the point where she likes anything that has a good beat and she can dance to it. My eldest though can appreciate all types and I have spent many car rides answering the question "Mommy, why is no one singing on this song" Thankfully after me repeating the same thing over and over when the piano starts to play she says "Mommy, this song does not need people singing because it sounds pretty on its own" I only hope years from now she will feel the same way.
In honor of music and the many different types of it out there one lucky reader is going to win 4 Cd's. Although I may not be familiar will all of the artists someone out there loves them and I am happy to share their love with you.
What you will win:
Pussy Cat Dolls- Doll Domination: Anyone who catches a glimpse of this group can clearly see that their sexy image helps sell their whole package. They have received a lot of controversy for their appearance and dance moves. However, whether I like them or not anyone that can perform in shoes like they wear earns respect from me ;-)
Marilyn Manson- Eat Me Drink Me: Also another controversial artist out there. I remember him when he first came out and like I read by another star; no matter if its bad or good if your trying to get noticed you'll take what you get. Personally I know nothing about his career since his "Beautiful People" song back in 1996. Long before I had grey hair or children. Could it be possible that he made me feel really old ..LOL
Kate Nash- Made of Bricks: She has been called "Little Miss sunshine that's brightened up the chart" by The Guardian. She is an English singer that may not be as well know in North America but had won in 2008 won Best Female Artist from the BRIT Awards.
Soulja Boy-Tellem.com: Okay this artist I do know...mostly thanks to his Crank That (Soulja Boy) dance, not the music. I remember seeing this everywhere and like the Macerena back in the day (yes I'm aging myself again), this dance was pretty popular. NO I don't have enough rhythm to be able to do it. :-)
